Dragged myself out of bed at 4:35 today with a planned 10 miler in mind. In theory, I should get the gear on and 'Just do it', however, one has to wake up a bit doesn't one?
So I did the prep for breakfast - porridge with a handful of raisins thrown in, which would be sat on the hob waiting for my return. After this culinary task I got outside and launched myself into the run.
The first 50 metres or so were fine, but then my heart rate went sky high and it felt like I had already run the 10 miles. Fortunately it didn't last and I settled into a decent pace, eventually doing 9.7 miles in 1hr 20mins, so not too bad for me. The dodgy knee was perfectly OK until about 8 miles, then it needed a good talking to as well as a bit of concentration keeping my knees up and everything landing as it should. The plan says 2hr run on Sunday so that will be a good test.
