Sore Feelings

I happened to have about half an hour spare yesterday evening, so jumped on the rollers for a high cadence session.  I managed to get well over 100 revs for a change, and maintained it until duty called and I had to go and fetch the Chinese.  At least I could justify the extra calories!

After Monday's sore knee, I'm favouring cycling over running this week, I can't risk that knee getting worse although I don't want to rest it completely.  I might get half an hour this evening if by better half doesn't need attention.

This morning, the intention was to do 1.25hrs on the rollers so I set the alarm 15mins earlier than normal.  Alas, my sit bones couldn't stand it (sit it) so I gave up after the hour.  I didn't put any cream on prior to the ride, so next time I need to do that to see if it helps.  Tried standing up to relieve that area, but as usual struggled to balance and the only way I could support my weight without over balancing was to stand with slightly bent legs which was difficult to say the least.  I guess that's where a static trainer would be better than rollers, although I would expect a static to be even more boring than rollers.

One thing I have been doing is taking my laptop down to the bike shed and watching various films to make the time pass.  I had a copy of The Armstrong Lie' to watch this morning, and so far (half way through it) it's not bad, although there have been no new revelations that I didn't already know.  I'll give you my critical review when I've finished it.

Tuesday, Another Early One

The usual bleary-eyed early start this morning to get my hour in before the 55 minute drive into the office.
It was run day today.  I've had to shuffle the options round to accommodate a day off on Sunday, but I think I updated that yesterday.
Just as I finished (getting the letters out the letterbox) the knee started to give me some grief and I shuffled the last 40 yards back to the house.  Hopefully it wasn't anything too serious, at least it was OK during the run.

I missed my swimming last night.  My better half needed the company, but I let her down by falling asleep on the sofa.  Could be that I miss both swimming sessions this week, but I'm not too concerned about that.

Monday Feb 24th. Concentrated.

This blog will now take on the form of a triathlon training blog for the next 6 months or so whilst I prep myself for the Outlaw iron distance triathlon in July.  Any resemblance to a highly tuned athlete is purely accidental.

Well, what to say about Friday - except that it was not a happy day.
Saturday was bike day, but luckily I had done extra during the week so I only need to do an hour to fullfil my plan.  Should I plan for family deaths every week?  I don't think so.

The hour run on Sunday was windy, and my knee gave me some grief for the last mile, so much so that I had to stop and do some on the spot jogging to try and stop it aching.  It felt like it did at the worst of my 2 years off, but with  bit of experimentation and trying different angles, it seemed to get better, and within 400m was perfectly OK (or as near perfect as it normally is).   Lets hope it was a one off.

Cycled on the rollers for an hour this morning to try and get some time in the bank 'cos we're in the trailer all day Sunday so I think I can write Sunday off.  I'll use it as the rest day, but it means I have to concentrate everything else into the next 6 days, and it's a 9hr 45 min week, the most yet.
